Your Inspiration To Thrive 01 – Interview with Rachael E.C. Acklin (@CaffeinatedElf)

Today I’m extremely happy to give you the first episode of YITT.

Right now you’re probably thinking, “What the hell is a YITT?”. Am I right?

Let me explain.

YITT: Your Inspiration To Thrive

YITT is going to be regular series of interviews, case studies, and stories from people who’ve decided that they were not going to let “less than desirable” times in their life control them. These are normal people, just like you and me, who where determined enough to take the actions necessary to achieve their goals.

These are the stories that inspire me to grow my business more everyday, and I want YOU to have the same inspiration too.

YITT will eventually be available in iTunes if you guys let me know how much you like it in the comments.

And now I give to you… the lovely @CaffeinatedElf!

Rachael is truly amazing. In this interview you’ll learn how she…

  • Didn’t let the fact that she didn’t know how to do something stop her
  • Went from $20 in the bank to a thriving business (that will soon employ several people) in just 2 years.
  • How she has built an awesome web design business, a coaching business, homeschools all 4 of her kids, and doubles her income every year – all without a formal education in what she does.

Like I said, Rachael is amazing.

We talked for about 30 minutes (although it only felt like 5 ;-) ). If you don’t have time to watch the whole thing now, download the audio here and take on the road today: Download Me! Download Me!

I know! She’s awesome, right?

You should seriously go find her and tell her how much her story inspired you.

And here’s how:

  1. Hi Andy and Rachael–

Thanks for this lovely interview! Love Rachael’s story and her resilience. I’m sure there’s a lot of people more qualified to speak on behalf of her design and coaching skills, but what most resonated was how awesome a mom she is!

Rachael: I appreciate and respect your decision to put your family first.

My action step for the week: schedule work on my product development when it will not encroach on my time with my son.

Getting the calendar out now ;) .

    Thanks guys!
    ~Linda

    • @Linda, what a great takeaway that is. It’s pretty obvious that you’re a great mom as well. :)

  2. Rachael, you are an amazing lady! You’re living the way I hope to be living in a few years, working from home and being a great mom. I had my breaking point a few weeks ago (Andy heard all about it in an email) where I had only $30 in the bank and I was fed up with my current situation. Now I’m focusing on my web development business and some personal projects for fun. Hopefully soon I’ll be living my dream too!

    • @Angela, WOW! I am so excited for what you’re going to accomplish! Please let me know if I can help you along at any point.

    • Andy

There is NO “hopefully”. You WILL be living your dream soon ;-)

  3. Andy

Well, I think the verdict is officially in, Rachael.

    You’re awesome!

Thank you so much for wanting to help inspire countless others.

  4. Holy cow, Rachael!

I’ve had this tab opened all day waiting for a chance to watch it. My life is more than little upside-down today. After finally watching, I had to wait for time to comment. At almost midnight, I come back to comment and somehow my tab was lost. I checked Twitter to look for Andy’s tweet that sent me here and instead, I find your tweets about the fire.

I’m all teary. I’m so relieved to hear it wasn’t worse and no one was hurt. I completely understand how much your perspective changes when you realize how…I don’t know…how precarious life really is.

So, I won’t go on and on tonight about how great you are, how much alike we are and how we should totally be best friends. Tonight, I just want say that while your work and your story is an important inspiration for all of us…your family is obviously 1000x more important. I know you know that. Hold them, hug them, eat cookies for breakfast and pizza for dinner. Spend the day (or the week) on the couch in PJs watching silly movies or playing board games.

After my day of minor surgery & lots of pain pills, I know how easy it is to feel guilty for not getting any work done when I’m focused on my family. Then again, being able to focus on my family when they need me…that’s exactly why I do this, right? So “No guilt. Just family.” is my mantra on days like today. Sometimes, it even works.

Take care of yours! I’ll connect with you later about that whole we-should-totally-be-friends thing.

    ~ Laura
